The Kampung Melayu bus terminal came under attack from suicide bombers two days ago in Jakarta, killing three policeman and injuring at least 12.

Authorities on Thursday raided the houses of the suspected bombers, and found Islamic teaching materials and bladed weapons, AFP reported.

Three men have been arrested in Indonesia as part of an investigation into a terror attack on Wednesday.

The bombings on Wednesday night also injured five other police officers and five civilians.

The government last year proposed several changes to the existing anti-terrorism law, mainly to expand police powers in counter-terrorism for better prevention, after a brazen attack by four Indonesian militants loyal to ISIS in Jakarta in January that year.

Authorities in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation, have carried out a sustained crackdown on militants since the 2002 bombings by al-Qaida-affiliated radicals that killed 202 people in Bali.

In that attack, an alleged member of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah, which has pledged allegiance to Islamic State, was shot dead by the police after detonating a homemade bomb on a busy road, causing no casualties.

Jakarta-based security analyst Sidney Jones, who heads think-tank the Institute for Policy Analysis of Conflict, described the claim by the jihadists as "very credible" and that JAD's Bandung branch was behind the assault.

The bus station bombing was the deadliest attack in Indonesia since January 2016, when a suicide blast and gun assault claimed by IS in downtown Jakarta left four attackers and four civilians dead. Police said the attack had targeted officers, using pressure cookers packed with explosives.

"The roles of each and their group are still being investigated", Yunus said.

The attack is the deadliest since ISIS gunmen attacked a commercial center in Jakarta in January of a year ago.
