Khaldoon Al Mubarak dismisses 'ridiculous' speculation over Aguero future

Al Mubarak said transfer speculation over Aguero in recent months has been'ridiculous

The Chairman of Manchester City, HE Khaldoon Al Mubarak, has spoken at length about City's recent season and taken a look to the future - which he describes as being "very exciting and very entertaining" and that more trophies are on the horizon.

Al-Mubarak admits the club will embark on another massive spending spree to land some of the world's biggest stars for Guardiola.

Aguero helped City finish third in the league, scoring 20 goals in 31 league appearances, but his starting role came under intense scrutiny following the arrival of in-form Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus in January.

Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Jesus Navas and Willy Caballero will all leave the club following the conclusions of their contracts this summer but the club are in talks to re-sign Yaya Toure, who is also out of contract. There's never been a doubt about that.

Manchester City's Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero celebrates after scoring the opening goal of the English Premier League football match between West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City at The Hawthorns stadium in West Bromwich, central England, on October 29, 2016.

"I've read a lot about the speculation on this and it is ridiculous", Khaldoon told City's website on Tuesday.

Attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva has already joined from Monaco for a reported 43 million pounds ($55 million), and Al-Mubarak confirmed City are in the market for full backs and a goalkeeper among a list of targets.

"Pep has introduced a new way of playing for us, an exciting way, but a way that requires work and which requires a set of players that function within that system", said Al Mubarak.

"Sergio Aguero is one of the best players in the world and we are a team that aspires to win in every competition we compete in".

"The manager is thinking about the squad every day and that thinking evolves throughout the year to get to a final point at the end of the season when decisions are made", Khaldoon said.

"I'm very excited about how we're developing as a team..." "You can see the players that are exiting right now, and that will give a clear indication of the positions that are a high priority for us to fill".

"Yaya is one of the players that over the last six years has been instrumental to the success of this club".

"Pep relies heavily on that position".

"We know exactly what Pep wants".
