Five days before Aaron Hernandez hanged himself in his prison cell on April 19, the former National Football League player was acquitted of charges related to the 2012 double murder of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The auction garnered over 100 bids before being taken down. This Toyota was given to Hernandez to drive by Fox Toyota in East Providence Rhode Island, for guest appearances, and signings at the dealership, as he was rising to stardom as a tight-end tandem with Rob Gronkowski.

Prosecutors had alleged that Hernandez was sitting in the passenger's seat of the 4Runner when he fatally shot Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.

What's more, the seller is also packaging this truck with a framed jersey autographed by Aaron Hernandez himself. Hernandez was convicted of first-degree murder in Lloyd's 2013 killing.

Hernandez hung himself in his jail cell just days after being acquitted of the drive-by murder of two men; he was already facing a life sentence without parole for the murder of Odin Lloyd. After learning of the exorbitant prices that Hernandez gear was selling for, Fox and his friend Buddy Clair made a decision to list it on eBay.

Fox leased Hernandez the auto and the license plate shortly after Hernandez entered the National Football League and was drafted by the New England Patriots.

The two had a good professional relationship, Fox testified in court during the double-murder trial. Clair is handing the sale on Fox's behalf, he told the Globe.

Hernandez's vehicle frenzy on eBay was far from the first time freaky pieces of history have caused a ruckus. "It's valuable to somebody and somebody should have the right to own it without being criticized, " he said.

At the time, Clair said he didn't know that much about the vehicle's history. The SUV has 53,000 miles on the odometer and runs great.

According to Kelly Blue Book, the price of a 2006 Toyota 4Runner is not worth more than $12,000.
