The minds behind the Resident Evil reboot series have hit the ground running, tapping a producer and a screenwriter for the first film.

It's not just the Resident Evil film franchise that is now being worked on, as there are also plans for the future of the accompanying Resident Evil video game series.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is available on Blu-ray, DVD, and in digital HD now.

Well that didn't take long - Resident Evil: The Final Chapter released on blu-ray and dvd on May 16th.

Variety is reporting that Martin Moszkowichz, chairman of the board at Constantin Film confirmed at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival that a REBOOT of the based-on-a-video-game franchise is now in the works.

The Mila Jovovich-fronted Resident Evil film franchise has been running for many, many years now, but recently it concluded with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. That's the biggest global total out of all six of the movies released so far.

One of these days, you're going to be at movie pub quiz, and the tie-breaker question will be "Name all of the Resident Movies", and you won't be able to.

Variety is reporting that Constantin Film, the studio behind the movies, is ready to reboot the series with a new installment.

While Jun Takeuchi talks about Resident Evil 8, keep in mind that nothing has been officially announced yet. I think what made Resident Evil so special is that the people involved really loved what they're doing and really were fans of the game.

Sales matters a lot when it comes to video games and sadly, that is where "Resident Evil 7" has disappointed Capcom.
