Twitter co-founder Biz Stone returns to company to 'guide culture'

Biz Stone, who recently sold his image-search-engine company, Jelly, to Pinterest for an undisclosed sum, will focus on shaping the company's culture, he announced in a post on Medium.

However, on Tuesday, Mr Stone said in a blog post on Medium that he would be "returning to full-time work at Twitter starting in a couple of weeks".

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, at center in 2013 photo at the New York Stock Exchange debut of the social network, is flanked by co-founders Jack Dorsey, at left, and Ev Williams.

Stone's presence could help boost morale at Twitter after several years of management turmoil and multiple rounds of job cuts.

Stone's return is very timely, for two reasons.

Twitter diehards are reacting positively to the news - many think that Twitter needs to get back to its roots, and what better way to do it than bringing back a co-founder?

It's important that everyone understands the whole story of Twitter and each of our roles in that story. "I'll shape the experience internally so it's also be felt outside the company".

Biz and Jack have maintained a close relationship since founding the company and also since Biz left, with regular catch up's in San Francisco and maintaining a close friendship. His startup, Jelly, was acquired by Pinterest in March.

Meanwhile, Twitter reacted well to the news. And now, apparently, co-workers once again. Twitter has woven itself into the fabric of our global society.

While Twitter's influence has grown alongside that of active user Donald Trump, it has failed to make a large dent in the revenues of dominant advertising platforms like Facebook and Google. Stock jumped up by 2 percent to reach a three month high of $19.62. "After Tea Time, we spoke privately and Jack told me that he really did - he wanted me to come back and work at Twitter".
