HYS: Should Man City sign Ryan Bertrand or Benjamin Mendy?

Manchester City have announced that goalkeeper Ederson will join the club from Benfica on July 1st for £35 million.

Terms were agreed with the player and his Portuguese club last week but the move was held up while severance of the 23-year-old's third-party ownership agreement was negotiated.

But the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry, or so the saying goes, so if City could only sign one this summer, who would you choose - the Champions League winning former Chelsea youngster or the two-cap Frenchman?

Antonio Conte's men will, however, face fierce competition for his signing with Manchester City and Liverpool also believed to be vying for his services.

The 23-year-old who resumes to the club on July 1 stated on the website:"I like everything about Manchester City, this is a great club, the league they have here in England and they have fantastic fans and they play splendid football".

The fee makes Ederson the most expensive goalkeeper in history, £2million more than Gianluigi Buffon's move to Juventus from Parma in 2001.

Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand wants to follow Virgil van Dijk out of St Mary's in the summer transfer window, according to reports, putting Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester Cityon alert. I think they managed to have a good season.

An injury derailed his fantastic start but he returned towards the end of the season to provide further evidence of his talent with four goals in last five Premier League starts. Bravo's back-up and challenger for the keeper spot, Willy Caballero was released by City.
