Spanish banker who fought off London Bridge attacker with skateboard confirmed dead

Last month, he was spotted urging people in east London not to participate in the June 8 general election. London police have not confirmed the name. A string of opinion polls over the past couple of weeks have pointed to a narrowing in the gap between her Conservative Party and the main opposition Labour Party.

Less than two weeks earlier, a suicide bomber had killed 22 adults and children at a pop concert in Manchester and, in March, five people died after a vehicle was driven into pedestrians on London's Westminster Bridge.

How the latest terror attacks unfolded in London.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said Butt was known to the security services, but there was no evidence of "attack planning" by him.

"Last year. when I went to England, he was a bit more rigid", Collina, a convert to Islam, told reporters in a series of interviews Wednesday.

Between 2009 and 2016, the number of police officers fell by nearly 20,000, or around 14 percent, according to the independent Institute for Fiscal Studies think tank.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said the police and MI5 must reveal what they had on file about Butt and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said he had appeared to have "slipped through our net" despite being in plain sight.

May called the election in an effort for her party to receive a larger majority as she begins negotiations for Britain to leave the European Union.

Metropolitan Police distributed this photo of Youssef Zaghba, who they have named as the third London Bridge attacker.

Amaq, an outlet affiliated with the Islamic State group, said the attacks were carried out by "a detachment of fighters from Islamic State". The three men on London Bridge wore fake suicide vests that triggered a "shoot-to-kill" order.

A supporter of Arsenal football club, whose shirt he was wearing during the attack, Butt was known to the police and MI5, which had opened an investigation into him in 2015, according to a report in The Guardian.

Kirsty Boden, an Australian nurse working in London, was named as one of the victims.

A minute of silence was held nationwide at 11 a.m.to honour all the victims. In particular, there are questions over whether investigators had the resources to look into complaints such as those levelled by Butt's neighbours about his attempts to radicalise children and whether crucial opportunities were missed.

The first attacker, thought to be Zaghba, can be seen plunging a knife into the victim's torso before he is joined by his two accomplices who also leap on the man.

Alpha House, the Calgary charity Chrissy worked for, says it has seen an "outpouring of support" and described Archibald as a "bright light" and a "talented social worker".

The third London Bridge attacker has been identified as 22-year-old Youssef Zaghba.

The British Transport Police officer, who was one of the first on the scene as Saturday's atrocity unfolded, is still seriously unwell with wounds to his head, arm and leg.

Although the charge was later withdrawn, he remained on file as "a person at risk", Italian daily Corriere della Sera reported. Volunteer your time and labor or donate to a homeless shelter.

Chief Constable Paul Crowther said: "Having visited the PC in hospital a number of times and hearing first-hand the incredible account of his actions on Saturday night, I am proud that he is part of the BTP family".
